① high refractoriness: arc temperature above 4000 ℃, steelmaking temperature often 1500 ~ 1750 ℃, sometimes as high as 2000 ℃, therefore, require refractories must have high refractoriness.
② high load softening temperature: EAF steelmaking process is under high temperature load conditions, and the furnace to withstand the erosion of molten steel, so the refractory material must have a high load softening temperature.
③ good thermal stability: EAF steel from the steel to the charge within a few minutes of rapid temperature changes, the temperature dropped from the original 1600 ℃ suddenly dropped to below 900 ℃, and therefore requires good thermal stability of refractories.
④ slag resistance is good: in the steelmaking process, slag, furnace gas, molten steel on the refractory company material has a strong chemical erosion effect, so the refractory should have good slag resistance.
⑤ high compressive strength: electric furnace lining in charge by the impact of the charge, the molten steel by the static pressure, tapping the steel by the scour when operating by mechanical vibration, so the refractory brick for sale must have a high pressure strength.
⑥ low thermal conductivity: In order to reduce the electric furnace heat loss, reduce power consumption, requiring the thermal conductivity of refractories to be poor, that is, the thermal conductivity is small.
